Curatorial and identification duties include all of the scale
insects (Homoptera: suborder Coccinea) and the whiteflies
(Homoptera:Aleyrodidae). These collections of the FSCA are primarily
on microscope slides, and are available for loan to qualified
researchers. Type slides included in the collection will be listed on
another page.
My primary research interests deal with taxonomy of the "crawler"
life stage of soft scales and construction of photo-recognition keys
for field agents and laymen.
Other interests include the distribution of scale insects in
Florida, neighboring land areas, and the Caribbean. Scale insects and
whiteflies as regulatory problems. Scale insect-ant-parasitoid
interactions.
